The Thomson meets Mackintosh exhibition features
Gerald Blaikie's architectural drawings of some of the best known works of
Alexander Thomson and Charles Rennie Mackintosh, two of Scotland's most
celebrated architects.
The
exhibition was on display at the Mitchell Library in Glasgow from 2
August 'til 28 September 2007.
The
exhibition contrasted Thomson's Classical vision, derived from the
varied forms of the ancient world, against Mackintosh's freedom of style, influenced by the Arts & Crafts movement.
Glasgow's two architectural heroes are very different, but each stands on his
own as a contributor to the city's unique built environment which is now
becoming appreciated well beyond local boundaries.
